Idaho is one of the fastest growing states in the US. Cities are growing and new construction is generally booming. Over the past decade, Idaho has grown at a rate of 14%. With growth comes more households and with more households comes a need for worn down appliances to be repaired.​

Idaho has nearly 800,000 households. Assuming each household owns an average of 5 major appliances, there's 4 million appliances in residential areas. Due to the rapid growth of Idaho, there's an increasing demand for appliance repair technicians.

 

The average salaries and wages for appliance repair professionals in Idaho increase with experience and training. Technicians can expect average hourly wages to range between $24-30 per hour plus commission for parts installed. Entry-level roles generally pay between $18-24 per hour initially. 

 

This comprehensive program equips you with the essential skills to step confidently into entry-level appliance repair roles in Idaho. You'll gain hands-on experience in:

Beyond technical skills, this program prepares you with critical safety knowledge, including OSHA 10 training, empowering you to recognize and prevent workplace hazards in the construction industry. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications:

In addition to receiving the OSHA 10-hour Certificate and the EPA 608 Universal License, students will be prepared to take two optional exams:

  • Certified Appliance Professional (CAP) by United Appliance Servicers Association (UASA)

  • National Appliance Service Technician Certificate (NASTeC)

​

PLEASE NOTE: While students will be prepared to take these additional certification exams, the actual exam fee is not included as part of the Appliance Repair program fee.

Module 1: Introduction to Appliance Repair Industry (12-14 hours)​

  • Overview of Appliance Repair Careers & Opportunities

  • Tools & Equipment Overview

  • Safety Practices & OSHA Guidelines

  • Ethical Repair Practices & Customer Service

  • Certification: OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Safety Certification

 

Module 2: Electrical Fundamentals for Appliance Repair (8-12 hours)

  • Basic Electrical Theory & Circuits

  • Multimeter Use & Electrical Testing

  • Troubleshooting Electrical Components

  • Safety & Lockout / Tagout Procedures

Module 3: Gas Appliance Systems & Safety (5-8 hours)

  • Understanding Gas Systems in Appliances

  • Gas Leak Detection & Repair

  • Gas Line Installation & Code Compliance

  • License: EPA Section 608 Type 1 (for handling refrigerants in appliances with sealed systems)

Module 4: Refrigeration & Cooling Systems (20-30 hours)

  • Refrigeration Cycle Basics

  • Compressor, Condenser, & Evaporator Function

  • Diagnosing Cooling Issues in Refrigerators & Freezers

  • Handling Refrigerants & Leak Repairs

  • License: EPA Section 608 Universal Certification

  • Range Types (Gas vs. Electric)

  • Microwave Magnetron & Control Boards

  • Oven Calibration & Repair Techniques

Module 7: Dishwashers & Garbage Disposals (10 hours)

  • Water Inlet Valves & Drainage Systems

  • Diagnosing Cleaning & Drainage Problems

  • Pump & Motor Repairs

Module 8: Hands-On Training & Simulations (15-20 hours)

  • Workshop Labs for Hands-On Repair Practice
